The Thorian calendar has a starting time

* Much research went into the design of the Thorian calendar because it was very important that the exact ancient traditions of northmen heathendom could be preserved. Yet the rites and holidays had never before been fitted to a solar calendar. It was not until it was discovered that an eleven-fold year defined a nine lunar month period represented by eight "halls" did a design become possible. This nine lunar month seperation is of course, February 8th - November 1st.
* The calendar had one thing missing -- a starting date. It was latter I discovered the answer. On November 1, 1952 : "Mike," the first H-bomb, is successfully tested at Eniwetok in the Pacific. US. This was the answer. Man had "connected" with the Sun at that instant ( by the pyrotechnic FUSION explosion ). This one defining moment will be remembered for eternity. So too, may we launch the new heathen age of the Northmen.
* The calendar luckily begins with a full moon. Also planet Thor ( Jupiter ) visits the first hall of Alfheim.

ELEVEN-FOLD CODIFICATION
Taking these trifoils and coloring them with three colors in all the combinations results in eleven varieties. These symbols correspond to the eleven gods, their eleven halls, and the eleven periods of the year ( see the THORIAN CALENDAR ).

The 11-fold calendar has the property that 8 periods ( halls ) equal 9 lunations. Take note that FEB 8th preceeds NOV 1st by 9 months. February 8th ( Valaskjalf 1 ) marks the middle of a fixed month-long period reserved for the thing. The thing occurs during the full moon. November 1st ( Alfheim 1 ) marks the middle of a fixed month-long period reserved for the harvest feast. The feast ( and lunar new year ) occurs during the new moon.

The calendar has a remarkable additional property and that is it tracks the opposition of the planet Jupiter. In the vernacular of Norse, Jupiter is of course Thor. Planet Thor has a synodic period of 1 and 1 / 11 years so it will visit each hall in succession. This is why the calendar is called the Thorian calendar.

The calendar predicts eclipses. An eclipse will usually recur in the same location every 54 and 1 / 11 years. This period is a triple Saros cycle or the exeligmos (Greek: "turn of the wheel"). For example, the total eclipse of the sun that occured on Valaskjalf 17, year 0 was followed by an eclipse on Fensalir 17, year 54.

We again make note that the "S" rune is the Sun rune and symbolizes the eleven-fold way. This is verified by the marvels of the eleven-fold calendar.

THE ELEVEN-FOLD WAY
The symbol represents the elivagar, the eleven rivers that flow from the spring Hvergelmir in Niflheim. It is the radial arrangement of the eleventh rune "S" of the younger futhork. We employ the eleven-fold way to organize the calendar because of the striking congruities it demonstrates when compared to the pattern of our ancestral lunar holidays. Thereafter, it seems natural to use eleven as a classification of the "primary" gods.
